Missouri Delta: Art of Giving Project October 2024

This was a Philanthropic project, hosted by the Missouri Delta Chapter, at the Electra Province Conclave.

The Chapter asked members that were attending to help contribute to our local women's shelter, Amethyst Place, that helps single mothers get back on their feet. Also raised money to support a local non-profit Regional Arts Council, ArtsKC, that advocates for policies that strengthen the bonds of understanding and respect among the regions diverse art communities.

Indiana Gamma: Free Library

The Indiana Gamma Chapter put up a "little" free library, the library then had to be made "bigger." Please take note of the lettering on each side, which was painted freehand by Dana Hood. This library experiences a lot of activity due to its location on a path, just a block away from the park and walking trail. The nearby sidewalk sees a great deal of foot traffic. Some visitors stop by to borrow books before heading to the park, returning them on their way home.

Mary Fisher has received numerous compliments for how convenient the library is. She maintains the library since it is located in her front yard, with contributions of books from Gamma. Dana and Deb Hood regularly check in on the library to ensure it remains fresh and well-kept.

It was a delight to see a group of young girls, around 10 years old, pulling a wagon and browsing the books. They mentioned that they frequently borrow books from the library. However, the library attracts people of all ages, including individuals using walkers and scooters.

This effort is part of the ongoing work to support the literacy program.

Dana Hood, Deb Hood, Ty Lingo, and Mary Fisher all contribute to maintaining the library.

Literacy Based Philanthropic Work and Awards

As a National Sorority, Delta Theta Chi supports literacy and breast cancer awareness. Individual chapters choose how they support these causes and other causes in their communities.
Part of our literacy focus is helping local schools by supporting their education. So students of all ages, and read to the younger ones.

In addition to Delta Theta Chi's nationwide efforts to support Literacy, some chapters have also included support of local breast cancer awareness and other important health related organizations in need of support
